Moldovan and Ukrainian youth stand against corruption

‘Zero-tolerance’ on corruption and an active, public stand against it, these were the messages of the Summer School “Youth against the corruption” held in Vadul lui Voda, Moldova on 25 July – 1 August. Twenty five students of law, economics, linguistics, criminal justice and European Studies spent 7 days learning the theory and practice of anti-corruption from leading experts from the Centre for Combating Economic Crime and Corruption of Moldova (CCECC), the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and the EU Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM). >>>

180 million dollar cocaine seizure at Odessa seaport

Odessa, 30th July 2010 - The Ukrainian border services have seized nearly 1200 kg of cocaine at Odessa Seaport. 1200 bricks, worth around 180 million US dollars, were stashed in furnaces on a ship from Venezuela. >>>

Improved risk analysis supports record cocaine seizure at Odessa seaport.


Odessa, 19th July 2010 - The largest ever cocaine seizure in Ukraine, 582.35 kilograms, was recently seized by the Ukrainian border services at Odessa seaport. The drugs, with a market value of over 60 million US Dollars, were hidden in scrap metal on a ship from Bolivia. The cocaine was stashed inside thick pipes to avoid X-ray detection.
