EUBAM and Odessa City Council to cooperate in promoting European values

2 February 2010, Odessa – Acting Head of EUBAM Mr Udo Burkholder and Head of the Department of International Relations, European Integration and Connections with Odessa Diaspora of Odessa City Council Mr Oleg Dolzhenkov signed a Joint Statement of Cooperation promoting European values today.
‘EUBAM is delighted to be working with the city council in sharing European values,’ said Mr Burkholder. ‘Working with local communities is a priority for EUBAM. We’re already working with a number of universities in Chisinau and Odessa as well as many schools’ he added.
In turn, Mr Dolzhenkov stated that the work of the Mission has become not only a factor of strengthening stability and increasing transparency on Ukrainian-Moldovan border but to a great extend it facilitates the awareness of people of Odessa on a life of European Union, a culture of United Europe and its main civilization values.
The parties agreed that EUBAM experts will conduct presentations in Odessa schools. Also staff and representatives of public organizations and students of Odessa will visit EUBAM’s headquarters and field offices. Through May the Department of International Relations and EUBAM will jointly organize a range of public events to mark Europe Day in Ukraine.
The signing ceremony was held at the headquarters of EUBAM in Odessa.
