On 14 October 2025, Head of EUBAM Mr Slawomir Pichor paid a working visit to Odesa to discuss ongoing cooperation with regional authorities and border and customs partners, reaffirming the Mission’s continued support for Ukraine’s border management and trade facilitation efforts.
At the meeting with Major General Yuriy Petriv, Head of the Southern Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, discussions focused on the operational situation along the border, coordination mechanisms, and ongoing cooperation in ensuring effective control and security.
During a meeting with Mr Oleh Kiper, Head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, both sides underlined the strategic importance of the Odesa region in maintaining resilient border and transport infrastructure that underpins Ukraine’s connectivity through the “Solidarity Lanes” amid the ongoing security challenges. Both parties held an exchange of views on the security and economic developments in the Odesa Region.
In talks with Mr Andrii Koliver, Head of Odesa Customs, the Head of EUBAM reviewed the operability of the Single Window mechanism, and the One-Stop-Shop concept for cargo traffic at border crossing points. Discussions also touched upon EUBAM’s technical assistance, including the planned delivery of body cameras to strengthen transparency and accountability in customs operations.
“EUBAM continues to stand by its Ukrainian partners, supporting the adoption of modern, EU-aligned border and customs practices that foster security, transparency, and trade facilitation,” emphasized Mr Slawomir Pichor.
