EUBAM celebrates Europe Day!

Between 3-20 May, EUBAM partnered with town and city administrations right across its area of operations in Moldova and Ukraine to celebrate Europe Day. A big thanks to all the people who came to learn about the EU and EUBAM at these events!

Europe Day in Chisinau was celebrated in the Europe Village set up in Stefan cel Mare park on 13 May. EUBAM’s Office in Moldova presented the Mission’s work, alongside our partners, Moldova’s Border Police and Customs Service. EUBAM experts also presented to students from Chisinau’s Financial Banking College.
In Vinnitsa, festivities in the city centre were organised by the Euroregion “Dniester” project of Vinnytsia Regional Council. EUBAM’s Field Office in Otaci conducted quizzes and distributed visibility materials. The Field Office also represented the Mission in the joint Europe Day and Vyshivanka Day in Mohyliv-Podilski.
For the first time in 12 years, EUBAM celebrated Europe Day and Vyshivanka Day jointly with the Department of Education of Rozdilna District Administration. Experts from the Mission’s Field Office in Kuchurhan were on hand to explain their work to local residents and, through a series of popular presentations, to secondary school pupils as well.
In southwestern Moldova, Cahul’s Horelor Square was the scene of Europe Day celebrations, organised by the City Council on 9 May. EUBAM staff briefed on their work and distributed leaflets and visibility items to local citizens. Understand of the Mission’s work was also strengthened by a presentation at Cahul University.
Together with Moldova’s Border Police and Customs Service, EUBAM’s Field Office in Odesa presented its work to school children and local citizens in Stefan Voda. Visibility materials, quizzes and drawing contests were held during the event on 13 May.
A series of interactive presentations to school pupils from Podilsk, Fedorivka, Honorata and Hlybochok towns were organised by EUBAM’s Field Office in Podilsk to mark Europe Day in conjunction with Ukraine’s National Police and Podilsk Local Centre for Free Secondary Legal Aid.
In Odesa, Europe Day was celebrated by EUBAM’s Headquarters and Field Office in Odesa through a series of awareness raising lectures for school pupils on the Mission and the European Union. EUBAM’s work was also presented to students of Odesa’s National Mechnikov University’s Department of World Economy and International Economics.
