EUBAM Further Builds Moldovan Border Police Capacity in Document Security and Second-Line Control

EUBAM organized another four-day practical training on second-line checks and document fraud detection for 16 officers from the Regional Directorate East of the Moldovan Border Police. The session took place from 21 to 24 October 2025 at the Regional Directorate East in Ștefan Vodă.

Delivered by specialists from the Document Examination and Forensics Units of the Iași and Timișoara Border Police Territorial Inspectorates (Romania), the activity focused on enhancing officers’ abilities to identify forged documents, conduct in-depth verification, and apply modern examination techniques.

The course combined theory with practical exercises, covering topics such as international security document standards, materials and printing methods, personalization and security features, and verification of vehicle and identity documents. Participants also practiced joint second-line control procedures, gaining valuable experience in detecting falsified travel and vehicle documents.

As part of EUBAM’s ongoing capacity-building efforts, the training supports the professional growth of the Moldovan Border Police and strengthens operational cooperation to prevent document fraud and reinforce border security in line with EU best practices.
