EUBAM Hosts 8th Arms Working Group Meeting

        On 23 January, the European Union Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM) organized and moderated the 8th Arms Working Group Meeting, which was held online. This meeting brought together representatives from the law enforcement agencies of Moldova and Ukraine, alongside their counterparts from Poland and Romania, as well as representatives from Frontex, Europol, EMPACT FIA Driver, Eurojust, and OSCE.

        The meeting focused on reviewing the current situational picture on firearms trafficking in Moldova, Ukraine, and at the eastern external borders of the European Union. Presentations highlighted key detections at or related to the borders, shedding light on trends and significant cases of firearms trafficking.

        The discussions underlined the importance of cross-border cooperation in tackling firearms trafficking and identifying emerging threats. EUBAM remains committed to enhancing cooperation and information sharing among national and international partners to address the challenges posed by firearms trafficking and ensure the security of the borders in the region.
