EUBAM facilitated a two-day study visit for the Moldovan Border Police officers to the Port of Galați, Romania, between 29–30 October 2025. The activity was hosted by the Romanian Border Police and aimed at supporting the Moldovan officers’ familiarization with EU practices in border control at river ports.
The visit focused on procedures applied in port environments, the use of modern information systems for border management, and the organization of physical inspections of vessels. It was designed to provide Moldovan officers with practical insights into how Romanian border and customs authorities coordinate daily operations and ensure effective control over river traffic and cargo.
On the second day, an interactive practical session was held at the Port of Galați, bringing together five Moldovan officers participating in the study visit and an additional group of ten officers from the Giurgiulești Border Police Sector. The session offered a valuable opportunity for hands-on experience exchange and operational interaction between Moldovan and Romanian border officers working in port settings.
This initiative represents another step in the longstanding partnership between EUBAM, the Moldovan Border Police, and the Romanian Border Police, aimed at strengthening cross-border cooperation, promoting EU best practices, and advancing integrated border management along the EU’s eastern frontier.
