Internship at EUBAM

        The European Union Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine is offering a group of university students the opportunity to acquire experience working as interns in 2013.

        14 positions will be opened for the following EUBAM units:

        Сommunications Office – two (one intern during the May/June period, and one intern during the September/October period)
        The main areas of activity will be related to: media monitoring; research; assistance in visibility items; assistance in preparation for outreach/PR activities; monitoring the implementation of the EUBAM internal communication strategy.

        Analytical and Operational Support Unit – four interns:
        One intern in the office of the head of unit and the main areas of activity will be related to Law enforcement management, and information management;

        One intern in Investigation Advice Cell and the main areas of activity will be related to investigation and modern crime fight methods;

        One intern in Analysis Cell and the main areas of activity will be related to risk analysis, customs and fiscal analysis and evaluation as well as report writing;

        One intern in Operational Quality Control Cell and the main areas of activity will be related to operational management, tactical law enforcement and Transnistrian issue/process.

        Capacity Building Unit – four interns
        One intern in the office of the head of unit and the main areas of activity will be related to project management;

        One intern in the Good Governance and Anti-corruption Cell and the main areas of activity will be related to assistance in relation to the implementation of EUBAM projects in Good Governance and Anti-corruption area;

        Two interns in the Strategy and Policy Development Cell – one will be acquainted with the main areas of activity related to assistance in relation to customs matters (post clearance audit; customs violations; authorised economic operators) and one – in the area of border police/guards activities.

        Strategy Planning and Performance Office – one intern for two months (September – October)
        The main areas of activity will be related to participation of the work of the office and in the frame of the further development of quality management, to make a proposal for development of a concept for the management of ideas, the creation of a database and a proposal for implementation of the concept.

        Executive Management and Legal Affairs Office – one intern
        The main area of activity will be related to the Mission management, relations with partners and EU bodies; protocol issues; organisation of events (international meetings, workshops and seminars).

        Liaison Office of EUBAM in Moldova (LO in MD) – two interns
        One intern will be acquainted with modernisation process of the border police of MD and the EU integrations process and the second intern will be focussed in the area of customs modernisation in MD and EU integration process.

        The interns must sign an Internship agreement upon acceptance.

        – Main Location: EUBAM Headquarter in Odessa, Ukraine and LO in MD, Chisinau, Moldova.
        – Duration: 1 to 3 months (exceptions to be made for some positions).
        – Salary: Unpaid.

        Interns will be responsible for covering all costs: travel, visa, medical insurance, accommodation and meals. The intern is also responsible for finding suitable accommodation for the duration of the internship. EUBAM can provide assistance if needed on finding accommodation. The EUBAM can provide letter in support of visa procedures if needed.

        – Workload: equivalent to that of a junior executive-grade officer.
        – Internship Description: detailed description will be given to each intern.
        – Application Deadline:
        30 April 2013 for all positions.

        Application Eligibility:
        – Degree Requirement: Recently completed or pursuing a 4-year or graduate degree. Language Requirement: English required.
        Russian, Ukrainian, and/or Moldovan desirable.

        Documents Required Upon Applying:
        – Detailed Resume.
        – Essay: “How my knowledge and skills will prove valuable to EUBAM?”
        2- 3 pages, Font: 12 Times New Roman, Double Spaced.
        – In the E-mail specify in which EUBAM unit the candidate would prefer to work in and what period of time.
        – Recommendation Letters: 2 from professors teaching at the university (college) they are attending OR have just graduated from.

        Documents Required upon Selection (photocopies with translation in English if necessary):
        – Passport.
        – Visa (if required).
        – Medical Insurance (valid in Ukraine/Moldova).
        – Unofficial University (College) Transcript or another proof of university (college) attendance.
